Purpose
This document has been developed as a guide:
- to inform the public of the
essential principles used in selecting library
materials and the procedures for public input
into the process;
- to communicate to the Library
staff the principles and policies involved in
collection building and maintenance;
- to ensure the Library’s
governing agencies of the Library’s
compliance with its charge and mission.
A separate policy has
been developed for the use of the Internet,
electronic resources, and materials provided
by Internet services. This policy was
developed by a committee of the professional
staff and reviewed by the Director and City
Administration. The policy will be reviewed annually to
ensure that the information remains current
and pertinent.
Policy Review
The City Administration
and the Director of the Library will review
the Collection Development Policy of the
Longview Public Library annually to ensure
that the policy remains a current, pertinent,
and accurate reflection of the changing needs
of the community, the library and its
collection development objectives.
