Our goal is to provide our users a safe and enjoyable reading and learning environment. As the Library is a public place with a large number of visitors each day, it is important to take the same precautions you would at other public and open places. Please help us help you by following these safety tips while in the library. Suspicious Behavior
Please report any suspicious or strange behavior to a library employee immediately. Do not leave personal belongings unattended. Theft can happen in an instant and purses, backpacks, and laptops should be guarded at all times. If you are approached by a stranger asking for money or behaving inappropriately, please notify a library employee immediately. Children should not be left unsupervised! Young children should be escorted to the public restroom by an adult.
Computers
The Library has a Zero-Tolerance Policy concerning misuse of the computers. If you observe a patron accessing inappropriate websites or pornography, please report this immediately. Violation of this policy will lead to termination of library privileges.
Protecting Materials
Theft and damage of library books is a crime and deprives you of valuable information! In order to assist us in keeping our costs down and providing you with the best resources, please inform the Circulation desk if you see damaged materials on the shelf or observe someone destroying library books or property. Also, please take good care of library books while they are in your possession--remember-- you are responsible for them.
Weather and Disasters
The Library has an adopted Emergency Preparedness Plan to address emergencies such as fire, severe weather, chemical spills, and bomb threats. Announcements and/or emergency drills will be made through the Library's speaker system. For questions concerning the Library's Plan, please call the Administration office at 903-237-1341.
