Biography
A&E Biographies -- Contains biographies for "25,000 of the greatest lives."  Search by name, category, or date.  Try your hand at the weekly quiz.
Invent Now National Inventors Hall of Fame -- Search by name, invention, or keyword to read the biographies of people who have changed our world through their inventions.  Site also provides information on patenting inventions, invention competitions, and Camp Invention.
POTUS Presidents of the United States -- Find background information, election results, cabinet members, notable events, and some points of interest as well as links to biographies, historical documents, audio and video files, and other presidential sites.
Who2 -- Gives you the hard facts you're most likely looking for: birth and death dates, famous works, notorious trivia.  Provides links to the four best sites for additional detail.  Movie stars, authors, frauds, cartoon dogs -- anyone famous is fair game.

History & Geography
American History -- Site provides documents, maps, photographs, and sound recordings to enhance your research of American History. Also, find many links to important American History topics such as the Civil War or the nation's presidents.
Hyper History Online -- Find all the World History information you need with links to important people, religions, events, politics and more.  Presenting 3,000 years of world history with an interactive combination of lifelines, timelines, and maps.
Exploring Ancient World Cultures -- An on-line course supplement for students and teachers featuring its own essays and primary texts. The site offers information covering eight cultures: The Near East, India, Egypt, China, Greece, Rome, Early Islam, and Medieval Europe.
EyeWitness to History -- Website includes information from the Ancient World to the present, and it offers a look at history "through the eyes of those who lived it," with links to snapshots, voices, and other documents. 
History Channel -- Read up on the most important events in history since 500 BC, view historical video clips, listen to important speeches, download history study guides, take history quizzes and much more on History Channel's website.
Library of Congress -- Link to sites on American history and culture, World culture and resources, online galleries, and the Wise Guide. 
CIA World Factbook -- Find out everything you ever wanted to know about the countries of the world.  View flags, maps, and geographical information for every country.  Learn about contemporary global conflicts, wars, and boundary issues.  
Animated Atlas: Growth of a Nation -- ten minute movie which depicts the geographic history of the United States from the beginning of the nation to fifty states. Geographic elements are interactive, as is the timeline.  Other animated atlases include:  The Early Colonies, The Revolutionary War, Expansion West and the Mexican War, and Overview of World War I.

Government
State and Local Governments -- Provides convenient one-stop access to the websites of thousands of state agencies and city and county governments. 
The White House -- Read up on the latest issues, news, speeches, and events, or listen in on scheduled Press Briefings on the White House's website.
U.S. House of Representatives -- Find your state's Representative (by name or by state), locate information on a specific bill or law,  learn about the legislative process, and visit other links provided on the website.
U.S. Senate -- Learn about or contact your state senator, find links to scheduled hearings, discover books, documents, and bibliographies on Congress and the government, or plan a Capitol tour. 
U.S. Supreme Court -- Search for Supreme Court files, rulings, or case handling guides.  Also, plan a visit to the Supreme Court or learn about job opportunities there.

Internet Public Library Research and Writing Guide --  Includes a step-by-step guide to researching and writing a paper.  Find helpful hints for researching information at the library or on the Internet.  Provides links to Internet resources that give examples and instructions for writing various types of papers including essays and research papers. 
APA Style Manual -- Provides excepts from the 5th edition showing how to cite electronic sources in a paper.  Includes a section on removing bias in language.
Citation Styles Online -- Provides samples of citation from MLA, APA, Chicago, CBE, and other style guides. 
How to Cite Electronic Sources -- Provides examples of citation from both the MLA and Turabian style manuals.

Discovery Web Math -- This site is composed of many math "fill-in-forms" into which you can type the math problem you're working on. Linked to these forms is a powerful set of math-solvers, that can instantly analyze your problem, and when possible, provide you with a step-by-step solution, instantly!  From general math to trig, the answers can be found here.

Math World -- A comprehensive and interactive mathematics encyclopedia intended for students, educators, math enthusiasts, and researchers.

National Gallery of Art -- Learn about the art and the artists.  Take in-depth tours to explore various artists or themes in art.   For quick access, search the site or the educational resources.
Artcyclopedia -- A comprehensive index of every artist represented at hundreds of museum sites, image archives, and other online resources providing references to sites on the World Wide Web where artists' works can be viewed online.
Art History Resources  -- Maintained by Chris Whitcombe, Art History Professor, this site offers links to a wide variety of art history resources on the Internet.
Essentials of Music -- Learn about the major music eras, what made them unique, themes, and representatives composers.  Biographies are available for 70 popular composers.  Samples from the Essential Classics are available though Real Player is necessary to listen to them.
Instrument Encyclopedia -- Explore the diversity and creativity of musical traditions as you browse our gallery or search for a favorite instrument.  Search by instrument or geography.

Amazing Space -- Get to know our vast universe by exploring its planets, galaxies, comets, black holes, and more
BrainPOP -- Hundreds of animated movies that explain science, math, and English concepts for K-12.  Take a pop quiz to test your knowledge then watch the movie to learn even more. 
Extreme Science -- Learn about Time, Weather, Space, Earth Science, Creature World, and Technology with this fun and entertaining science site.  Find the world record holders for a wide variety of categories including the wettest place, the deepest cave, and the oldest living creature. 
Naked Scientists Online -- Read articles written by the Naked Scientists, hear their radio show or listen to archived shows, find reviews of new science titles, or join the forum to ask one of the scientists a question.
Nine Planets -- a collection of information about our Solar System intended for a general audience with little technical background.  Included for each object is a large picture and usually several smaller thumbnail images, some scientific and historical facts about it, a table of data on each satellite, links to more images and information about the object elsewhere on the Web, and a list of open issues for which we as yet have no answers.
Periodic Table of Elements -- Lists all the elements and their properties including their states, energies, oxidation and electrons, appearance, reactions, other forms, radius, conductivity, and abundance.
